2005 Meritaggio

Composition

A “super Tuscan” style blend of: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Sangiovese, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petite Verdot.

Vineyards

Planted in 1978, the David Arthur Estate Vineyards are located on the top of Pritchard Hill, overlooking the Napa Valley. Pritchard Hill sits at the North East end of the Napa Valley and is part of the Vaca Mountain Range; the soils here are orange-red and extremely rocky.

Fermentation and Aging

Wine varietals are soaked and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for six weeks. Transferred to 60 gallon French Oak barrels, and aged for 21 months.

Production

1100 Cases were produced in 2005.
The 2005 Vintage will be released in November of 2007.
